OK here’s the thing… I rarely do live post-fight shows immediately following a bout on my own channel. And I really do live post-fight shows immediately following a bout early in the morning. However given the significance of the Shinsuke Yamanaka vs. Luis Nery bout, this is an exception to the rule. Yamanaka – Nery is a bout that had us boxing geeks/hardcore boxing fans buzzing for months. So I got up early this morning to watch and Luis Nery (24-0, 18 KO’s) took apart Shinsuke Yamanaka (27-1-2, 19 KO’s) in four rounds to become the new WBC Bantamweight champion in what has to be the most impressive performance of the year so far in boxing.

During this early morning post-fight show we recapped Nery’s win over Yamanaka as well as the future for Nery. Here’s hoping folks understand the importance and ramifications of Nery’s win as well as the possibilities not only for Nery moving forward, but for boxing as well (I can see a Luis Nery vs. Naoya Inoue superfight down the line). We have a new force among the lighter-weight fighters and possible star in the making… and his name is Luis “Pantera” Nery.
