Inoue destroys Emmanuel Rodriguez to advance to the WBSS Bantamweight Finals

May 18, 2019

The WBSS Bantamweight semi-final between WBA champion Naoya Inoue and IBF champion Emmanuel Rodriguez was anticipated to be one of the better fights of the weekend and more intriguing bouts of 2019. However, it was Inoue who once again lived up to his nickname of “Monster” as he annihilated Rodriguez in two rounds at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland to unify the WBA/IBF Bantamweight titles and advance to the WBSS Bantamweight Finals.

In the first round Rodriguez (19-1, 12 KO’s) came out as the aggressor behind the jab, forcing Inoue (18-0, 16 KO’s) to fight on the back foot. However, Inoue responded well by doing a nice job of countering with right hands and left hooks.

The fight took a similar pattern at the start of the second, but that’s when the vaunted power of the Japanese superstar surfaced. Twenty-one seconds into the second round, Inoue landed a solid left-right that stunned Rodriguez.

Seconds later Inoue landed with another right to the head, followed up left hook to the chin that put Rodriguez on the deck. Rodriguez got up, but was obviously hurt and bleeding from the nose.

It was at this point where Inoue smelled blood and pounced. Rodriguez went down for a second time in the round way of a left-right to the body. While the Puerto Rican once again rose to his fight, he was writhing in pain.

Inoue then poured on the punched finishing his salvo with a left hook to the body that put Rodriguez down for a third time in the round. Rodriguez was done, and referee Michael Alexander called a halt to the bout with 1:41 to go in the second round.

This was once again a devastating performance by Naoya Inoue as he may be the most explosive fighter in the sport. During the post-fight interview he was asked about the opponent for the finals, WBA Super Bantamweight world champion Nonito Donaire.

While Inoue said he no plan of strategy to fight Donaire yet, he’s really looking forward to the challenge. Donaire, who was at ringside and in the ring during Inoue’s post-fight interview said he’s always felt that it would be him and INoue in the finals and he’s also looking forward to the challenge.

“GGG” Hires a New Trainer!!!

By. BrotherJR

May 4, 2019

Former Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin surprised many last week with the news he was parting ways with long-time trainer Abel Sanchez. With “GGG” having an upcoming fight against Steve Rolls next month as well as recently signing a multi-million dollar deal with DAZN the question was, who would pick up the training duties for Abel?

3KingsBoxing has learned Golovkin gave the answer to that question. During a press conference earlier today in Las Vegas, Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KO’s) announced that he will now trained by Johnathan Banks. Having previously trained former Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and is the current trainer of undisputed Welterweight champion Cecilia Breakhus, Banks who learned the tricks of the trade from the late Emanuel Steward.

Banks and Golovkin disclosed during the press conference today they have been working together at Golovkin’s training camp in Big Bear, Ca. for two weeks. Said Golovkin of Banks “He’s young but he has good experience, he’s old school. I like old school. He learned from Emanuel Steward. I believe in this school of boxing.”

Banks said that in spite of the short time working together, he feels he has adequate time to prepare for Rolls, noting that Golovkin entered training camp in very good shape. Asked if there’s any concern about Golovkin’s age, he responded by saying age is irrelevant and that he sees hunger and passion from the former champ.

While Abel Sanchez expressed anger over their split, for his part Golovkin say he harbors no ill feelings. For “GGG” he want to move on and keep learning.

Breaking News… Andy Ruiz has agreed to terms to fight Anthony Joshua June 1st

By. BrotherJR

April 29, 2019

Ever since April 16th when Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller tested positive for a banned substance for his upcoming fight against WBA/WBO/IBF Heavyweight Anthony Joshua on June 1 at MSG, there has been a mad scramble as to would replace “Big Baby” to fight Joshua

It was an unfortunate and stupid move on Miller’s part to go the route of taking PED’s. What’s his loss will be someone’s gain as we now know will will be the substitute opponent for one “Big Baby”?

Today we learned that Andy Ruiz, Jr. (32-1, 21 KO’s) has agreed to terms to fight Joshua in June at MSG. Ruiz is a former world title challenger and is currently ranked 11th by the WBA and 15th by the IBF.

Originally Team Joshua tried to make a fight against Luis Ortiz, but negotiations fell through. Ruiz then took initiative as he went to twitter calling for a shot against “AJ”, and he was granted for what in effect was his trolling on twitter with a second world title shot.

All things considered, Ruiz is a decent replacement for “Big Baby” Miller. Though not the most impressive looking fighter as far as his physique is concerned. However when it comes to based skill-set, Ruiz can fight and will provide a decent test for Joshua.
